The Master Gardener Program is
operated by the Idaho Cooperative Extension System and is designed
to provide training, education, and gardening information to the
community.
The program concept is to provide
gardening information to the public through the assistance of
trained volunteers.
To become a Master Gardener, the
applicant must attend the classes, then provide 30 hours of
volunteer service the first year. This volunteer service can
include answering garden questions, identifying insects, leading
garden tours, giving school talks, participating in community
gardening programs, designing landscapes, and much more.
There is a fee for the program which
includes a comprehensive Master Gardener Handbook, lab materials,
and numerous handouts.
If you think you would be interested
in participating in this volunteer training program, please call the
Washington County Extension Office for more information.
