The
Valley County Extension office is located in Cascade, Idaho, the
county’s seat located just 75 miles north of Boise. Along the
scenic by-way of the North Fork of the Payette River, the valley
is home to the towns of Cascade, Donnelly and McCall (from south
to north). Surrounded by mountains, the valley has become a
travel destination for outdoor enthusiasts year-round. Cascade
and McCall, which used to be home to Boise-Cascade lumber mills,
are now communities whose primary industry is tourism.
Recreation activities include fishing, hiking, mountain biking,
hunting and water sports in the summer and fall months and
skiing, snowmobiling and ice-fishing during the winter months,
just to name a few. Numerous mountain lakes provide unlimited
destinations within the valley. Commercial & natural hot
springs are welcome relaxation spots for visitors and local
residents alike.
