Four One Hour Lessons
Lesson 1
Participants learn how their diets relate to the prevention and
treatment of osteoporosis. Activities include calculating their
current calcium intake and setting mini-goals for increasing their
own calcium consumption and levels of physical activity.
Lesson 2
Participants determine their calcium requirements based on their
age and gender, evaluate food sources of calcium, and learn what "%
Daily Value" means on the food label.
Lesson 3
Participants use foods from the supermarket to plan breakfast,
lunch, dinner, and snacks that are high in calcium.
Lesson 4
Participants conduct meal makeovers to increase calcium intake
at home and when eating out.
At each lesson, participants taste
test and evaluate recipes that are high in calcium.
