UNIVERSAL DESIGN
We all want more comfort in our
homes. Opening doors with arms full of groceries is as difficult at 30 as it
is at 70. People now realize that they need homes that will grow old with
them. Universal design are those home design features that make a home safe
and comfortable for everyone, young or old, whether they have a disability
or not. Some common universal design features for comfort include handrails
on steps and grab bars in bathrooms, good lighting, lever door handles and
rocker light switches. In this workshop you'll learn about universal design
features you can use in homes during construction or even homes that may
have been in your family for generations. Universal Design can make carrying
out your daily activities easier and safer.
