Introducing...

IDAHO LANDSCAPES & GARDENS

Now, answers to your gardening questions are just a click or two away...on an exciting new web site developed for Idaho gardeners by University of Idaho Extension.

Idaho Landscapes & Gardens

BOISE, Idaho-Whether you're a beginning or experienced Idaho gardener, whether you live in southern Idaho's desert valleys or along northern Idaho's shaded creeks, whether your passion is parsley or penstemons,  you can come home to a wealth of Idaho gardening information on a new University of Idaho web site,

 www.extension.uidaho.edu/idahogardens

Developed by faculty of University of Idaho Extension, the web site encompasses gardening basics; fruit, vegetables and herbs; trees, shrubs and vines; lawn and turf; herbaceous ornamentals; insects, diseases and weeds; garden wildlife, and landscape planning. Steve Love, University of Idaho Extension horticulture team leader, calls it a "'one-stop shop' for those who wish to approach gardening from and educated perspective."

The web site, "Idaho Landscapes and Gardens," includes information grounded in Idaho's climate and growing conditions as well as links to other outstanding sties maintained by the nation's land-grant universities or other organizations.  Users can learn how to prune their grapes or help beneficial insects flourish, how high to mow their lawns, how to design a native-plant landscape when to harvest their vegetables or prune their shrubs, how to save water or discourage raccoons, how to identify the best turf grasses for their needs and the right ornamentals for their site-and hundreds of other worthwhile tips for rewarding gardening.

Seasonal topics, Master Gardener program details and the opportunity to e-mail questions to a University of Idaho Extension educator round out the site.
