15-16, 22-23, 25-26

            Spanish Language Artificial Insemination Workshop for Dairy Workers.  On May 15-16 and
22-23 the classes meet from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Caldwell R&E Center, Caldwell, ID.  On May 25-26, the classes meet from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at local dairies in the Caldwell area.  The cost is $175 per person, with payment due by May 10.  Registration is limited to 10 people.  All six classes must be attended to complete the workshop.  (Contact Joe Dalton, 208-454-7633)

Week of 15th through mid July

            Preserve @ Home, a ten week online course using University of Idaho WebCT software, teaches participants how to safely preserve a variety of food products.  Each lesson includes online text, an online bulletin board, a real-time chat, and a quiz.  Real-time chats are scheduled for Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. MDT.  The course fee is $35.  This course is also available as a correspondence course, with lessons mailed to students.  (Contact Carol Hampton,

12-15  Lost Rivers Grazing Academy, “Intensive Management of Irrigated Pastures,” at the Nancy M. GOOD-BYE

We say good-bye to Soil Fertility Specialist Jason Ellsworth, who is leaving the University to work in the private sector.  We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

CONDOLENCES

We extend our condolences for the loss of his father to Glenn Shewmaker, Forage Specialist at the Twin Falls R&E Center.

The Master Gardener Clinics are up and running for the season - April 24 through September 8.  Master Gardener volunteers will be available from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the following locations:  Jerome Fairgrounds, Mondays & Fridays; Twin Falls Extension Office, Tuesdays & Thursdays; Rupert Fairgrounds, Wednesdays; Burley Extension Office, Thursdays.

The University offices are closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 29.
