COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS

Purpose of the Idaho Master Gardener Program:
The
University of Idaho (UI) Extension’s Idaho Master Gardener
and Advanced Master Gardener Programs provides gardeners with opportunities to improve their
horticultural knowledge and skills as well as serve their
communities.
“Helping people
grow” is the motto of the program. University of Idaho Extension
(UI Extension) conducts the Idaho Master Gardener Program
through participating county offices in Idaho under the
direction of UI Extension educators.
Idaho Master Gardener Responsibilities:
Volunteers agree to give at least 30
volunteer hours sharing with others knowledge they have
learned in a variety of ways.
Master Gardeners receive

WOODING AND HERBACEOUS ORNAMENTALS*

VEGETABLE CULTURE*

What Canyon County Master Gardeners Do:
With the supervision and support of the Master Gardener
Coordinator and Extension Horticulture Educator, Idaho Master Gardeners help others solve their
plant problems by:

Answering questions by telephone or in person
-
Help
with the Nampa Farmers Market
-
Teach classes for civic organizations, church groups, garden
clubs and schools
Canyon County
Master Gardeners also have the opportunity to join the
Advanced Master Gardener group and continue their education
and service!

Canyon County Advanced Master Gardeners
Canyon County Advanced Master Gardeners meet once a month for formal
classes, and agree to contribute 12 hours per year to the community.
Fee is $25 per year to join the program. Applicants must be
certified as a Master Gardener in Idaho.
Particpants may join at any time.
Next meeting: Thursday, June 4, at 6:30 pm at the Canyon County
Extension Office. Contact the Canyon County office for upcoming
speakers and topic information 208-459-6003.

For More Information:
To become a Master Gardener, contact
the Canyon County Extension office for
an application and information about the next and nearest
training.
Your Master Gardener classes and
laboratories will be taught by University of Idaho extension
educators and specialist and by other horticulture experts
from your community. Field trips and readings from
your comprehensive Master Gardener handbook will complete
your instruction program.
Once you've finished your classroom
training, passed your exams and completed your volunteer
hours you'll be certified as a Master Gardener.
