4-H

Youth
members and volunteers are involved in numerous activities in
Camas County. They
include: 4-H, church, Boy Scouts, school programs, soccer, and
baseball. School programs include jr. high and high school boys'
football, girls' volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball,
track, FHA, FFA, Choir, Band, Student Council, and Honor
Society. With 178 children enrolled in the county school
district, one home schooled child, and seven students who travel
outside the county to a private school, there are very few youth
who do not participate in some type of extracurricular activity.
Camas County Extension has a good 4-H youth program where
4-Hers and 4-H leaders actively participate and successfully
compete in local, district, and state activities. Two past
4-Her’s have been elected President of the State 4-H Teen
Association. Multiple
Camas County 4-H members have attended the 4-H National
Conference in Washington D.C. and the National 4-H Congress,
which are two programs of high honor. In 1999, 4-H enrollment
was 17 adult leaders and 53 youth completing 69 projects. In 2000, the 4-H enrollment was 12 adult leaders and 45
members completing 57 projects.
The 2001 4-H enrollment for Camas County included 17
adult leaders and 68 youth completing 111 projects. Most youth
participate in livestock projects. The enrollment for 2002
included 14 leaders and 67 youth completing 100 projects. |
