PRESERVE @ HOME
Are you interested in canning and food preservation?
Anyone with an interest in food preservation and food safety can
enroll in Preserve Food @ Home offered by The University of
Idaho Extension. Preserve Food @ Home teaches individuals how to
safely preserve a variety of food products. Participants
learn how to produce high quality preserved foods and the
science behind food preservation and food safety.
Individuals with little or no previous food preservation
experience are welcome. Students progress through lessons
at their own pace or at a time convenient to them using one of
two convenient methods of instruction which are On-line or

OSU/UI PRESERVE @ HOME
Oregon State University and the University of Idaho are please
to offer the Preserve at Home course from February 25-May 8,
2008. Students will be introduced to food safety and food
preservation science. Students will gain an understanding
of the principles and science behind foodborne illnesses and
food preservation methods. They will learn how to apply
these principles to safely preserve food by methods of boiling
water canning, pressure canning, pickling, freezing, and drying.
