In 2005, there were 219 members in the Blaine County 4-H Program. This is an increase from 152 in 2004, 139 in 2003 and 154 in 2002. 4-H members participated in club activities such as  horse, livestock, poultry, small engines, archery, sewing, Know Your Government Conference, Teen Conference, Junior Master Gardener, embroidery, cooking, and Wildlife Day Camp. Members worked on their projects throughout the summer and displayed their accomplishments at the Blaine County Fair in August. The Blaine County 4-H program publishes a monthly newsletter and calendar that provides helpful information on 4-H events taking place locally and statewide.

The Extension Office also sponsors a summer camp that takes place in July of each year. The dates for 2006 are July 8-12. In 2005, 61 youth attended as either campers or counselors.

Volunteers are the heart of the 4-H program. They serve a multitude of roles. Not only do they supervise and direct activities, they serve as role models and advisors for youth interacting with them throughout the summer.  There are 31 club project leaders in Blaine County.  Several other adults serve at 4-H camp.

4-H is a national youth organization dedicated to the development of youth and providing a foundation for them to become responsible, productive citizens, meeting the changing needs of a diverse society. The mission of the Idaho 4-H program is to help Idaho youth acquire knowledge, life skills, and attitudes that enhance their lives. This is accomplished as youth "learn by doing" as they participate in 4-H club activities.

4-H members range in age from 7-19 years of age. (Specific age requirements do apply.) 4-H membership is open to all eligible youth. However, the maximum number of club members and type of projects offered is established by individual club leaders. The 4-H program in Blaine County runs primarily from April through August. Volunteers sign up during the month of April, members are enrolled in the program in May, and club activities begin in June.
