The
Extension Nutrition Program is funded through the USDA Food and
Nutrition Services and the University of Idaho in cooperation with
the Idaho Food Stamp Program, Department of Health and Welfare.
It is a free nutrition education program, covering nutrition, food
safety, and budgeting. Clients are recipients of food stamps or
those eligible to receive food stamps.
During the last year, it has
grown to encompass all of District 1 (the 10 Northern Counties in
Idaho).
Funding from Aging & Adult
Services this last year has extended services to address the needs
of the area seniors.

Participants in the Extension
Nutrition Program will learn:
- The Food Pyramid Guide.
- About the latest food safety
issues.
- How to make quick, low cost,
and nutritious meals.
- To save money shopping by learning how to read food labels,
make shopping lists, and plan ahead.
- How to fix nutritious meals kids will like.
- And, to manage money and make money last throughout the
month.
Nutrition advisors meet with clients in their homes, churches,
libraries, Extension Offices or any public place in groups
or one-on-one where the clients will feel comfortable. To learn
