4-H Leader’s Associations

Within the state of Idaho, there is a framework of groups that will assist leaders and volunteers in the 4-H program to become better informed and be a better 4-H volunteer.  There are several levels in the association so that all areas of the 4-H program are represented.

State Leader's Association

The Idaho Leaders Association Executive Council consists of representatives from all four districts and several special interest groups.

District Leader's Association

Each district council consists of representatives from each county within the district.  The group sponsors and/or holds district activities and once every four years, is in charge of the Idaho State 4-H Leader’s Forum.

Ada County Leader's Association

The Ada County 4-H Leader's Association membership consists of volunteers, leaders, parents and teens that come together to consider business that affects the Ada County 4-H program.  The Association meets on the first Thursday of most months except August and December and usually meets on the third Thursday in July.  Meetings are held in the Ada County Extension Office starting at 7:00 p.m.

The Ada County Leaders Association officers for the 2007-2008 year are as follows:

                  President             Greg Martin

                  President Elect    Lori Cooper

                  Secretary              Bill Herrmann

                  Treasurer              Dana Kolstad

Following the Leader's Association meetings, approximately at 7:45 p.m., council groups gather for individual council meetings.

There are 3 councils within the Association:  Horse Council, Livestock Council and Family & Consumer Science Council.  Each of these councils elects officers and conducts business that concerns each of the respective councils.  Frequently the council meetings involve subject matter training relevant to the council group. Each council has rotating responsibilities during National 4-H week, at the fall recognition event, and at fair orientation.  Event Rotation Schedule.

For more information on either the Ada County Leader's Association or either of the councils, please contact the Ada County Extension Office at (208) 377-2107.
