Per capita income of Idaho residents is in the bottom ¼ of all states in the U. S.  Our state’s residents have credit indebtedness and bankruptcy in the top ¼ of the U. S.  To improve the financial literacy and money management practices of Idahoans, Extension Educators write articles for newsletters and publications.  We teach classes on goal setting, wise buying practices, budgeting, financial record keeping, credit use, savings and investments.  We provide publications and the High School Financial Planning Program (www.nefe.org).  In 1995, three Extension Educators founded the Idaho Financial Literacy Coalition (www.idahoflc.org), a non-profit group of individuals employed in education, business, government and non-profit agencies whose mission is to increase the quality and quantity of financial management education in Idaho.
