"Horse Balls"
(A variation on the game of horse shoes)
Equipment
A dozen golf balls - two different colors (6 each)
Thin rope
3/4" PVC pipe
Two PVC elbow joints per stand (two stands needed)
Six PVC t-joints per stand
Dimensions
Uprights - 12" apart vertically and 25" wide
Feet - 20" out from center; do not glue vertical section
to feet in
order to disassemble for easier
storage (flat)
Drill hole through each golf ball; tie knots in a piece of
rope 12" apart
then feed rope through the hole in
the golf balls and tie another knot to
secure golf ball (should have a knot
on each side of the golf ball)
*NOTE* A caution on the golf balls: do not use older, wound
golf balls which
will either say "wound" or "balata" on them; they have
compressed liquid
centers, and will spray potentially harmful substance if drilled as suggested.
Rules
Similar to horse shoes, there are two teams of two people -
one team member stationed at each stand.. The distance between stands can vary
by level of play desired. One person throws all three sets of
balls then the other person throws theirs. If they catch the top bar it is worth
3 points, middle bar 2 points, bottom bar 1 point. If an opposing team member
catches the same rung neither receives points. Play to 11 or 21, whichever suits
your time frame. The team that received points start the next round.
Thank you Paul McCawley for the name for this game!
